Cabra Castle was elegant. A 19th Century castle, set deep in the hills of Cavan County, it was stately and refined. While Ballynahinch Castle had felt more authentic with the hunters going out for the early morning hunt all decked out in somewhat traditional hunting attire: short pants, knee-high socks and rubber boots, a white shirt and tie, a sporty wool plaid jacket and a woolen newsboy cap, rifle tucked under the arm; Cabra was fit for a Queen, and King of course.
The entrance to the castle was long, and as the castle came into view, it felt like we were on a movie set.
We felt like royalty staying here. The address, after all, was Kingscourt, County Cavan, Kingscourt, Ireland. Pretty impressive.
The foyer…
The Tea Room…
The Upper Hall…
Our bathroom was bigger than most living rooms! The claw foot tub was amazing, but bathing in it felt almost, shall we say it – public! The room was huge, yet it felt opulently wonderful too. Candles and fluffy towels made it perfect.
Cabra Castle Parlour…
The private dining room…
Then of course there was Tea in the castle garden. Just fabulous Darling.
We took several walkabouts around the huge 100 acre property, with many outer buildings, a golf course, and the sweet old castle dog that followed along. The evening light on the castle was simply enchanting.
